Gigabyte will offer Customized Notebooks for Gaming

Gaming requires a high-powered laptop that can handle graphics and audio with the highest possible quality and this is exactly what Gigabyte wants to offer. The company has partnered with iBuyPower to offer notebooks designed to suit the needs of gamers. The devices will be sold on iBuyPower and users will have the chance of ordering the devices with the specs that they require. This customization program is called Optiboost and it will give users the chance to select the RAM, storage drives and other options when they buy a laptop from Gigabyte’s Ultraforce series.

Optiboost will be initially available for three models of their Ultraforce line: the 14 inch P34Gv2 and the 15-inch P35Gv2, as well as the P35Wv2 but the program will be extended to other notebooks. The Ultraforce 14-inch P34Gv2 features a 1920×1080 screen, 8GB of RAM, 2.4-GHz Intel Core i7-4710Q CPU, 500GB hard drive and Nvidia Force GTX860M graphics. You can get this high-performance device for $1399.

The company is expected to offer more customization options but currently, it is not possible to choose a different CPU, change the display or graphic card. The customization is limited to configuring the P34Gv2 with up to 16GB of RAM and dual hard drives or SSDs.

The 15-inch P35Gv2 also uses 2.4-GHz Intel Core i7-4710Q CPU, 8GB of RAM and GeForce GTX860M graphics as well as 1TB, 7200 rpm hard drive. It can be configured with your chosen storage drives, optical drive and GTX870M GPU for additional speed. The price for this model starts at $1499. The P35Wv2 is also 15 inches and offers almost the same but the difference is that it uses the potent GTX870M as part of its basic specs and the price is around $2000.

Configure to order is not a new idea in the market and companies like Alienware have been already offering users the option to select the components for their device. In fact, Aliwenware allows you to choose the video card, screen resolution, memory and storage drive for their 14, 17 and 18 -inch models. However, it is yet to be seen if Gigabyte will surpass the competition by adding extra power and enhancing the gaming experience for their customers.
